Title: Total Analysis of Overall Performance and Axial Thrust of Rocket Pump

Abstract: The LOX pump in the first stage of the next large launch vehicle, H-Ⅱ rocket, in Japan showed fairly good results in both the overall performance and thrust balance. However, the behaviour of the axial thrust is not well known because of the complicated flow in the thrust-balancing device. In order to reveal the flow characteristics and to determine the mechanism of thrust balance, the internal flow in every part of the LOX pump is fully analyzed together with the pump overall performance. The analysis developed here is confirmed to give satisfactory results to the pump overall performance and the axial thrust behaviour by comparing with the measurements.
